November News

Conferences

The Intercem Americas Conference will take place on November 28 – 30 in Las Vegas. This conference brings together top executives from the USA, Europe and the Middle East to discuss latest events concerning global cement logistics.  This year, PENTA will be represented by Mr. Frank Benavides.

Cement Industry

The US Cement Market is slowly but surely growing. Many markets are reaching capacity and we expect the rate of project activity to increase in 2018.

In 2017, PENTA has successfully completed many cement plant design and construction projects related to maintenance and process improvements.

Corrosion protection continues to be a significant demand. Currently, a major operation to protect off-gas systems in a cement plant in Alabama is underway.

Cement distribution terminals continue to be in demand with PENTA having several projects and studies in Wyoming, Arizona, and Texas.

We are also currently working on developing a Waste Heat Recovery project for 16 MW of power at a cement plant in California.

Lime Industry

PENTA recently completed construction management of environmental improvements at a major lime manufacturing operation in Utah. PENTA was also the designer and assisted with the equipment procurement for this project.

We have also started the construction of a hydrating plant to produce an hydrate to be used in environmental controls for power plants. PENTA was awarded the EPC contract for this project in the Midwest earlier this year with a commitment to complete construction in Q2 of 2018.

PENTA has also been awarded several design assignments for a South Dakota lime production facility.

Industrial Minerals

With oil prices rising, PENTA is back doing business in frac sand operations. We have been awarded two projects in recent weeks: a drying plant in Missouri and design modifications for a wet process plant in Brady, Texas.  We expect that this sector will be a significant source of activity for PENTA in 2018.

Miscellaneous

PENTA has been very active lately with silo repair projects. Many silos in cement plants and other industries, such as grain storages, are suffering from age.  PENTA inspects, provides design modifications, and oversees the repairs of the silo structures.

In the metals processing industry, thanks to the increased price of metals, we are again getting work opportunities in the mills and smelters in Missouri.

PENTA has also designed a major ready-mix production facility in Oklahoma working together with FLINTCO, a major contractor in the area.
