PENTA provided basic engineering services for a new fly ash handling and distribution system designed to process more than one million short tons of dry fly ash annually for shipment by rail and truck. The project supports the recovery of fly ash currently being ponded and its conversion into a marketable supplementary cementitious material (SCM) for use as a ready-mix concrete additive.

Fly Ash Recovery & Processing

PENTA developed the basic engineering for infrastructure to recover and process dry fly ash for beneficial reuse. The system is designed to transition fly ash from ponded storage into a usable, marketable SCM, creating a pathway for recovered material to serve the concrete industry.

Fly Ash Distribution Infrastructure

The project includes infrastructure designed to support the storage, handling and distribution of recovered fly ash by both rail and truck. The system provides the capacity and flexibility needed to move more than one million short tons of dry fly ash annually to end users.

    PENTA provided basic engineering services for the fly ash recovery, handling, storage and distribution infrastructure. PENTA's engineering scope supported the development of a system capable of receiving, processing, storing and transporting recovered fly ash for beneficial reuse as an SCM.
    RESULTS

    The project creates the infrastructure needed to recover and beneficially reuse more than one million short tons of dry fly ash annually. By transforming previously ponded fly ash into a marketable SCM, the system supports the continued use of recovered materials in the concrete industry while providing efficient rail and truck distribution capabilities.
